Elizabeth joined the Leadership Group with over 20 years of human resource, employee benefit and employment law experience. As Director of Human Resources for Steelcase Inc. she consulted with leaders throughout the organization and has extensive experience in strategic planning, leadership and employee training, organizational development, executive coaching, succession planning, employee relations, investigative and negotiation skills. She also gained vast experience in restructuring and reduction in force initiatives. As Corporate Counsel for Whirlpool Corporation and Steelcase Inc., she specialized in dispute resolution, merger & acquisition due diligence, post merger integration, union avoidance, employee benefit and executive compensation design.
Elizabeth has her Juris Doctorate from Seattle University and her Masters of Law in Taxation from the University of Denver College of Law Graduate Tax Program. She also has a B.A. in Business Administration from the Daniel's School of Business at the University of Denver, and a certificate in Strategic Human Resource Planning from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business Executive Education.
Elizabeth serves on the Board of Trustees for Opera Grand Rapids and is an Assistant Scout Master. She enjoys designing and delivering leadership training and is currently an Adjunct Professor at Davenport University where she teaches Human Resource Management and International Human Resource Management. As a former Adjunct Professor for Western Michigan University’s MBA program she taught Legal, Regulatory and Political Aspects of Business. Elizabeth has the Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification from HRIC and is also certified in Management Research Group’s Strategic Leadership Development process.
